Since childhood, I have been curious about the mystery of the universe and life. I was born in China in a medicine-rich family with over five generations of traditional Chinese medicine doctors (grandfather and prior generations), and Western medicine doctor (father) and nurse (mother). I have witnessed and have been fascinated by the effects of Chinese Medicine since an early age. Due to the amazing philosophy and effects of this medicine, it became my “hobby” and I have loved doing things related to Chinese Medicine, such as studying and reading books in Chinese Medicine, applying the healthy diet & lifestyle as promoted in its philosophy, practicing QiGong, and so on. Immersed in knowledge of medicine in the family, however, I “took it for granted”; I pursued and earned my Bachelor of Science in Space Physics at the highly-competitive and prestigious University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) to fulfill my curiosity about the mystery of the universe.
After coming to the United States for graduate school in science, over the years, I became aware of the limitations of Western medicine through personal and family experiences, and friends’ and other people’s struggles. I've known since childhood that there exists another system of medicine – Chinese Medicine, which would provide different perspectives about health, diseases, and life. I began to read and study extensively again about this medicine, and tried treatments. The treatments simply reminded me about the fascinating effects of Chinese Medicine I have been known since childhood. Eventually I decided to go back to graduate school again and pursue study in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine (which are the two major branches of Chinese Medicine) at Maryland University of Integrative Health, in order to practice this medicine and help more people.
The deep and broad philosophy of Chinese Medicine touched and moved my heart so deeply, and re-sparked my passion. It shifted my understanding about the universe, nature, life, health and illness, emotions, and so on. My heart feels enlightened through Chinese Medicine. This medicine reflects the deep truth about health and life, and fulfills my curiosity about the mystery of life and universe. It not only helps with physical health, but also touches mind &spirit, emotions, soul, and all aspects of life. This thousands-of-years-old holistic medicine is life-changing. Who would resist it?
